Together against food waste
After a successful event, food is sometimes left over in the Lorzensaal. In the past, this was a dilemma – today, it is an opportunity: thanks to our collaboration with Foodsharing Zug, we are able to save the food and distribute it to people who appreciate these meals.
All catering companies and event venues face this problem: you don't want to have too little food, but you also don't want to end up throwing away leftovers. Foodsharing Zug now offers the perfect solution for our events: if we see that there will be food left over after the event, we proactively contact the approximately 70 Zug Food Savers and coordinate the collection. The Food Savers then come by, perfectly equipped with Tupperware and packaging materials, and divide up the meals. Through their network, which they have built up creatively and in various ways, such as WhatsApp groups or the Foodsharing website, they distribute the rescued food to people in their community, neighbourhood or personal contacts. Not only is this a joy for the recipients, but our customers are also grateful that we can actively avoid food waste together in this way. And all this in a very uncomplicated and pleasant collaboration.
About Foodsharing Zug
The food sharing movement began in 2012 with a collaboration in Berlin and now has over 500,000 members in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with around 70 food savers in Zug committed to the concept. The foodsharing.de platform enables private individuals, retailers and producers to make surplus but still edible food available for consumption: in so-called fair share points (public shelves or refrigerators), directly to interested parties or in the private sphere of food sharers. It doesn't matter who receives the food – the main thing is that it is not thrown away!
